About the Artist
Jenni's Adventure
I graduated from Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montfort University, UK) with an honours degree in 3D Design. My career began with some fantastic jobs designing in a variety of industries that included the magical world of theatre, display and theme parks. I later returned to college to gain computer skills and worked as a graphic designer for the retail and exhibition industries.
I love being creative and it's exciting to see my characters in print and on products.
My favourite subjects are children, nature and wildlife and like many, I'm an advocate for looking after our planet. I work predominantly with watercolour paint and ink but also use digital design. I create all my own print ready artwork and where possible I use local print houses and material suppliers. All of the textile products are handmade by myself.
Artist, Designer and
Creative Dreamer
Illustrating a picture that holds an adventure itching to escape from the page is great fun and I love to write too. You can have a sneak preview of 'The Chestnut Tree' my debut rhyming illustrated picture book on the 'Story Time' page which is available in my online shop at The British Craft House.
The process of drawing and painting particularly by hand, for me, is like meditation and is a great way to relax and escape from the chaos of life. This led me into a project with children in some local schools known as silent sittings where they would sit quietly, be taken on a journey and then create fabulous drawings. It helped them to calm an over-active mind, improve their internal balance and explore their creative skills. I have also run a similar voluntary workshop for the homeless in Leicester. There will be a book available for your child to experience a 'silent sitting'.
The message in my work is about love and friendship. When people look at my work I see them smile so if I can create some happiness then that gives me much happiness.
My new online shop is at The British Craft House and you will find links to my shop on each page of this website.
